Lucas Ledwaba is the editor of Mukurukuru Media. He writes on land, mining, social and human rights issues. His work has appeared in the Mail & Guardian, City Press, Business Day, Good Governance Africa, Scottish Heritage Magazine and numerous other publications.
He is also the author of Broke and Broken - The Shameful Legacy of Gold Mining in South Africa [Blackbird, Jacana 2016] and co-author of We Are Going to Kill Each Other Today – The Marikana Story [Tafelberg-2013].
He is a previous category winner of the CNN/MultiChoice African Journalist Award, the Standard Bank Sikuvile Award and the Vodacom Journalism Award for Feature Writing. He is also a previous winner of the PICA Magazine Publishers Public Interest Writer of the Year. His photographic work has been exhibited in SA and at the San Francisco Public Library. He co-directed the documentary film Troupes of War – Diturupa which has featured at various international film festivals.
