Indra de Lanerolle is the director of the Journalism and Media Lab at Tshimolong Digital Innovation Precinct in Johannesburg, Africa's first journalism and media accelerator and innovation lab. He has published research on civil society use of technologies in accountability, on the the 'Internet of the poor' and mobile Internet use in Africa. He started his career as a journalist, television and film producer. His work was recognised with a Peabody Award, an Emmy nomination and the Japan Governor's Prize. He teaches courses in television journalism and media innovation at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
