Aunício da Silva is owner and editor-in-chief of Ikweli newspaper in Nampula, northern Mozambique, and one of the founders of Center of Investigative Journalism (the first and unique center in Mozambique).
He started his career at Zambezia daily newspaper and then worked at Canalmoz, Canal de Moçambique and Savana, newspapers based in Maputo. He also worked with with Lusa, Sporo magazine and Notícias Lusofonas.
His investigative career started in 2008, following timber and drug traffic in Nampula and Zambezia provinces. He also followed and reported illegal export of timber by Chinese companies from conservation area, like Gile and Mecuburi reserves.
Working with NGOs in Mozambique as communication and research officer, he worked on land-grabbing in Nacala Corridor.
