Emmanuel is a freelance reporter based in Nairobi. He has been doing investigations in Africa for a decade, from nerdy open-source journalism to extended trips in conflict zones.
Most recently, he's worked on verifying the location and perpetrators of the murder of two women and two children in northern Cameroon for the BBC (http://tinyurl.com/y9tg4k49). In Liberia, using public documents, he's revealed on IRIN News that the World Bank gave $19m to a mining company linked with Charles Taylor, the president turned convicted war criminal (http://tinyurl.com/md4cbzf). In Congo-Brazzaville, he's uncovered the bribery scheme of an Australian company to obtain mining permits, which led to a federal police inquiry (http://tinyurl.com/y9lb93lh).
Apart from such desk-based work, Emmanuel has done field reporting across Africa, including recently spending a week embedded with an anglophone armed group in Cameroon, which no journalist had done (http://tinyurl.com/ydca8b23).
